Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs Boneless skinless chicken breasts (cut into 1-inch pieces)
  • ½ cup Premium BBQ sauce (your favorite brand)
  • ¼ cup Natural honey
  • 2 tbsp Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp Onion powder
  • ½ tsp Sea salt
  • ¼ tsp Cracked black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch (for extra crispiness)
  • Garnish: Fresh parsley or green onions

Method

  1. Preparation: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
  2. Make the Glaze: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the BBQ sauce, honey, olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Coat the Chicken: Add the chicken breast pieces to the bowl and toss until every piece is generously coated. Sprinkle the cornstarch over the top and give it one last toss.
  4. Air Fry: Place the chicken bites in the air fryer basket in a single layer (work in batches if needed). Cook at 400°F for 8-10 minutes.
  5. The Shake: Halfway through (at the 5-minute mark), shake the basket to ensure even browning and caramelization.
  6. Serve: Once the internal temperature reaches 165°F, remove and let rest for 2 minutes. Garnish with parsley and serve warm.

Notes

Don't Skip Preheating: Always preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3-5 minutes to ensure the chicken sears and caramelizes instantly.
Avoid Overcrowding: Arrange the chicken bites in a single layer without touching each other; this allows the hot air to circulate and prevents the meat from steaming.
The Cornstarch Trick: Adding a tablespoon of cornstarch helps the honey BBQ sauce cling to the chicken, creating a thicker, glossier glaze.
Internal Temp Matters: For the juiciest results, use a meat thermometer to pull the chicken out exactly when it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
